Rough Gear Shift

hi,

I have a 1993 audi 80 automatic and ive been experiencing a few problems with the gear changes. The gear seems to change very roughly and jerky. I read in the manual that if the computer is faulty this may occur. Does anyone know how to fix the sports mode computer. Thanks

I have just purchased a audi 80 2.0e auto 1993. at present in garage having new heater matrix fitted. i will ask advise on your question tomorrow and let you know.

could you tell me what should happen when you engage the sports mode? i have a button near gear shift that says sport and when i press nothing seems to happen?

hi.
your audi has an automatic transmition control - TCM.
you can read fault codes from it via the terminals in side the fuse panel with the proper tool (vag 1551\2 dealership computer) or vag-com.
the system is complicated with all type of sensors and more so don't try anything before you have the fault codes.
