Hello Everyone,

It is a real pleasure to speak to people who appreciate Audi's, they are a cut above the rest and a joy to own. I purchased my Audi in May of 2001 and have had only minor problems up until now.

I just got my car out of the shop about 3 weeks ago. I changed the cam seal, valve cover gasket, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, a new blower motor and motor mounts.

The car is now leaking anti freeze inside my car, the first two notches on my air conditioner doesn't work( only the last two; high and maximum) and it blows a smokey mist from the air vents, and my heater doesn't work.

On top of this there is a clunking sound coming from the drivers side; sometimes when the car is in motion it makes the noise and when I turn.

I am thinking Heater Core, electrical problem, and stabelizer bushings.

Please let me know what anyone out there thinks.

Any advice is deeply appreciated !!

hi, I had the same mist, water, anti freeze on 2 vw golf gti and on a audi 80 all were heater matrix ( heater core ) see if its been recalled by audi to replace the matrix under warranty, its a safty issue and should be covered by the makers warranty, both our vw were 10 years old when recalled the 80 9 years old. ( rag weld will stop it for now )

As for the clunking sound well it sounds to me like your C V gone sorry.
anyway good luck with your recall.

cheers* jgm

The clunking could either be a CV joint or possible sturt mounts. If the upper strut mounts havent been replaced in a long time or ever, rot away, compress, break, whatever and cause the strut to move around cause a clunk clunk. Get under the car and check out the CV joint boot, see if its rip, if its ripped, chances are that you got dirt and crap into the joint and its shot. http://www.autohausaz.com/index.html has a pretty good deal on a new joint with boot and grease. i think like 110, but anything over 50 gets free shipping, pretty good business they have running. If it turns out that it was a strut bushing or some kind of suspension bushing. Take the time, energy, and money and re-do all of them, dont know what year your car is, bit mine just turned 17 years old and all of the bushing are looking beat, so i'm replacing everything from ball joints to upper strut mounts and putting in bilsteins and coilovers to get that audi handling the way it likes to be handled.

As far as getting coolant inside the car, it has to be some kind of hookup from the firewall to the heat core. thats the only thing, i would take your car back and tell them they didnt hook up the heat core properly and its leaking coolant into the car, save yourself the time and energy trying to do it. If this shop runs a good business they will take care of you.

Good luck, hope that helps.
