I thort its probibaly a dirty fuel filter but i changed that, could it be the fuel pump playing up? or an air / fuel mix problem (senceor's)

hiya stinkytoad,
i have just joined this forum to ask about the exact same thing that is happening to my j reg audi 80 2ltr! i have changed the fuel filter, the disributor cap, checked the plugs had an electrical diagnostics test and my audi specialist mechanic still has no idea what's causing it! I have now got it booked in for a fuel diagnostics test next friday. I'll let you know how i get on if someone doesn't help us out on here before then.
i hope it helps not being alone with this problem because it really does do your head in don't it!

Slushai sa brat mi If the car runs at 1300 rpm in pleas you have to cheing the "Lambda" sensor if that dos not coreck the problem go to regulation of fuel system and air meter.

Im just curious If your haynes manual is very similar to the model of car you have? I have a 1993 coupe and cant find a manual anywhere, only the years of the one you have and earlier. Apparently they havent even made one for our models. Many thanks, Chris.

They actually do have one for your model it's not haynes though...It's the bentley manual. Check E-bay you should be able to find it!!

Ive looked around but cant seem to find one in the UK but found one from Bentley itself in USA. $153, plus probably £20 for delivery. Think I might try the haynes for the older model to see if it helps a bit for now.
