1991 V8 Quattro no start!!!!!
Hello, everyone, just bought a 1991 V8 quattro with 88,000 miles. Car ran excellent with power to spare when I bought it. However, after degreasing engine, driving around town, and putting some premium into her, she fails to start. I started her, backed out of the garage, and shut the car off. Came back to her an hour later to find a no start condition. Timing belt is good (checked), took out fuel pump and tested (good), relay works. I also took out a spark plug and it had an extremely hot flame kernal as all wires, cap and rotors, and plugs were replaced. So I know it is not the dreaded crank positioning sensor or the rpm sensor. The car ran so good to not starting, that it is annoying me to not find out a problem. Even if an injector or a few went out, the car would still try to start, right? I also checked all of the fuses which are fine. Could a component in the fuel delivery system been vulnerable to the degreaser? The car ran fine for an hour after I degreased it. I would really appreciate any knowledge about above said problem! I have owned 3 other 1990 to 1991 audi's and never had a single problem with any of them except the cv axles!
Thanks a lot!
