hi, i have a 1987 audi 4000s and it is making a knocking noise under the hood , i read somewhere before that it was the knock sensor or some kind of rod that could be taken out, unfortunatley i cannot remember where i saw this, if anyone has an idea or any info, that would be great, thnx.

Yea, rod... the end is likely near! Knock sensors only retard ignition timing slightly under load conditions to avoid detonation. If it has issues, you would just hear knocking when you are hitting the gas.
