Default New Common Rail Diesel Engine

Does the A3 have the new common rail diesel?

If not, when is it expected / scheduled to get it?

Thanks,

Mike

This engine has just come out and only in the very latest just released B8 A4, will no doubt be handed down to A3 soon.

Default Space-saver spare wheel and tyre

Yesterday (Sunday 24th Feb) I visited a local Audi agent to inspect an A3 Sportback with a view to considering it as a replacement for my 8-year old A3 1.9TDI.

I was disappointed to find that it now has only a space-saver spare wheel and tyre, and even more disappointed not to say a trifle annoyed to be told that a full size equivalent is not available even as an extra cost option as there is insufficient space for it in the cavity below the boot floor.

Perhaps someone can explain what one is supposed to do with the defective full size wheel and tyre when having four passengers and a full boot a puncture requires the spare to be used.

Thanks,

Mike

call the AA and hope for the best! most cars nowdays do not carry a proper size spare wheel anyhow. A spacesaver one is better then that silly system that fills the damaged tyre... Mine worked fine while driving three people up a snowy mountain road! You see, I had a rear wheel puncture while on ski vacation! No problems. Next morning I visited a nearby garrage and fixed the tyre, put the proper wheel/ tyre set back one and drove off to ski!

I would still like to know where you put the damaged wheel if the car is full, the boot is full and the wheel is too large to fit in the space allocated to the space-saver
