Default A3 8P Alarm issues

Just bought 03 2.0fsi sport and the alarm seems to have a mind of its own. High winds and driving rain its fine , goes off in the middle of the night (nothing near it!). Audi have turned down the ultra sonic sensor and put on diagnostic, say its fine! I turned off the ultrasonic and it still goes off! Any ideas?

Hi racingdave
check the switch for the alarm
engine bay - doors and tail gate
eg open when the door etc are closed
if any are only just closed this may set off your alarm
I had this on a van the sound proofing under the bonnet had
a indent in it where the switch made contact with bonnet
and this made the alarm will go off at random
