i saw this on audi-sport.net . about manufacturing defect which affected the cylinder heads on early units and can result in a cracked head and coolant loss in extreme cases.
any one know any think about it ??

Hi, just flicking through the posts to see if I could find anything about water loss. I've got an early 2.0 tdi 140 and its using a bit of water! Its done 78,000 miles now. I'm worried now i've read your post! Have you heard any more abouit this problem. Mine is a 53 plate by the ways, Cheers Stan

Really sorry mate, I've looked through all 10 pages and I can't find the egr thread. If its still there let us know what page its on and I'll dig it out.
I've got the A3 booked in for a pressure test on tuesday at a VAG specialist, hopefully he'll shed some lioght on it! Cheers |

Not in the 8p or 8l forum but in the main A3 forum- titled can anybody help with egr problems. second thread from top. I had three pressure tests on mine but because it was a crack or porous head it was so minimal they didn't pick it up.
