Default Hydraulic Tappets...

Hey ppl! I need to change the hydraulic lifters on my 1.6 A3 (AKL). I have bought a new set....was jus wondering how do I tell what order to put them in?

I was under the impression that they are all the same - but apparantly not. As all the tappets look the same, I was hoping to replace them all, but I have been told that they go in a specific order. Any ideas?

I have checked in the haynes manual as well as online - but they all say remove the existing tappets and replace them in the order u take them out - ie put them back wer u got them from. as the 1s in the car are messed up and not in the ryt order...im a bit lost! what do i do from here?

some1 please help! As a last resort...I am considering using the car as a centre piece for my bonfire display if i cant fix it! Dont really want to do this...so sum1 please help!

Thanks in advance for ur help...and thanks to every1 for reading this thread!
