Default Poor performance head lamps

A3 1.8T 2002
Last night, I was traveling on a very dark highway, my headlights suck!
you cant see nothing unless you change to high beams.
Any recomndation to improve this? change to a speciofic type of bulb? replace the entire piece?
not interested in "tuned headlam models"
BTW: headlamps due to the years look kind of opaque, I think this is the problem?

I would try upgrading your bulbs first, can make a huge difference. Have a look at Phillips and Osram, both very good, have tried the osram and was very happy...

The A4 B6 headlights are just as bad too emalvido.

I think the way to go is to fit a HID kit still using the same lights ....
