Dash removal on A3

G'day.

Before I go and start removing any/all of screws that I come across, could anyone point me in the right direction? I'm after getting to the front of the instruments, to adjust the needle on the temp guage.

I can't help with the dash removal. But I am curious to know what you are going to do?
Is it to slighly move the needle to that is sits dead on "12 o'clock" when warm? My 1.9TDI sits ever so slightly past "12 o'clock", but I've decided to live with it.

Hi Adrian,

My guage currently sits at around 112 degrees, but the car isn't over heating. I've had it plugged into a diagnostic computer twice to try get it reset, but no joy.

I've been told it may work by manually pushing the needle back to the start of the guage when the cars cold. But, I believe I might need a new instrument cluster (to eliminate the issue) and at a few hundred quid, I though i'd better try the cheap option.

I could possibly live with this problem anyway, but thought it might be worth a shot, to see if it works.

if you start by lowering ur steering wheel to the lowest it will go and lock it ther, pull un the trim directly below the clock it will come out the are no clips dnt worry. then undo the 2 phillips screws.

only reason i no is i have 2 do it almost daily! til i can be botherd 2 spend 600£ on a new set!

Almost Daily?? Bloody hell, I thought mine was a pain! At least it can be done by hand anyway.

Damn! it wouldn't let me do it. It kept springing back to place! It felt pretty flimsy too, so didn't wanna force it around too much, but it still kept going back to the wrong, normal spot!
