hi ive just took out my standard audi concert headunit, and tried to put in a pioneer headunit, however the rear speakers are not giving out any sound! i took it to the nearest car electronics, and they said i needed a pc9404 adaptor lead, (3 way plug) which they tested for me before i purchased it, and that gave out a little bit of sound, but not much. they then told me you may need a PC9401 lead, however they also said that lead is for audis without the BOSE system, but im pretty sure my 1999 1.6 A3 has got it installled. A friend of myn also has an a3 and had the same problem but never bother to get the rear speakers working, if anyone knows the solution to this please let me know. im currently driving round with no sound which ain good! cheers

i think the sub in mine is made by Nokia believe it or not...
Are you getting any sound output from it at all?? I would say maybe the audio shop might have given you the wrong lead if you not getting any output to the rear ...

Im not sure what the lead was(part number) as i just told my local car audio shop i wanted the pioneer to power all of the Audi speakers and they fitted it for me..
The only thing the new head unit affected was the Drivers information display that showed what radio station i was listening to and what cd track... Are you in the US or UK Kuli ??

If memory serves (which rarely happens!) you should check the power from the head unit for the rear amp (the red wire on the red plug I think); I seem to recall that it wasn't connected on my harness adaptor 'cos there are a number of options for amp speakers in the A3 including separate power feeds.
Worth a look, but don't take my fuzzy memory as gospel. |

Have you had any joy sorting this out yet, I had a stereo fitted in my A4 over Xmas, which is the same setup. I had to use the PC9-401 adaptor and an aerial booster. I am getting sound out from the back, but it is nowhere near as good as what I had expected, there is hardly any bass at all, which is very disappointing. Something else to note was that the adaptor that i had, was wired incorrectly, so we had to modify that as well!!! So just check that you dont have one of these incorrectly wired adaptors. Hope that helps. Nilz |
