Central Locking Fault/burning Smell

Got a 2001 1.9 tdi. Today it deicded that it won't unlock using either remote, when opened with the key only the drivers door unlocks central locking won't work off the button on the drivers door either. A loud bleeping noise is coming from a box in the o/s/r corner of the boot which also smells really strongly of electrical burning, I unplugged the box but it still beeps. For an added bonus the interior lights are all on all the time but really dim.

The car still starts fine and everything else seems to be working. I've disconnected the battery for now just to be on the safe side.

sounds like you have got a wire shorting somewhere in the car.you would need to get the car down to an auto electrician before you have any major wiring burn outs which could set your car on fire if not blowing any fuses in the fuse box.
