I have a 2000 audi a3 1.8t.
My remote (2 button with the flip out key) suddenly stopped working. The key would lock and unlock the doors but not activate the central locking or the alarm system. The central locking works fine from the button on the driver door .I only had one key (bought it second hand).Audi dealership told me they had to have a second key to recode everything.Ordered the key and a new remote (expensive of course). When audi did the recoding (which is charged for seperately) the second key worked fine but they could still not get both remotes coded.Audi now wants a second booking so that they can fault find the problem. At the prices they charge I would like to do some fault finding of my own.Any suggestions?

I found the problem. There was a plug loose in the driver door at the lock.Put it in properly and did the recoding .Everything works again.
