Ive got the chance of buying an Audi A3....but theres a slight hitch ( isnt there always

The owner sasys theres a problem with the sump and that shes classed as a non runner and wont turn over. does this sound like a crank problem ie lower engine rebuild or something else much much much worse????

Please let me know ....oh by the way shes a 1998 AUDI A3 1.8T SPORT.

Don't touch it for any money unless you are able and willing to source and fit a new/reconditioned engine yourself.
Chances are if it's this badly neglected and hammered, this will not be the only problem you'll let yourself in for.
