Just new to this forum, I drive a Lotus Seven and an Elan but a bit like buying a pipe ,cardigan and slippers I now lust after a TDi A3. I am sort of wanting a 1.8 sport but know that I should have something more economical. what sort of MPG could I expect from a diesel???

I get between 50 and 60 mpg on mainly motorway (tank to tank not DIS)

It all depends on what sort of purpose you plan to use the car for.

Do you plan to drive a lot of miles a year? If so go for the tdi

If not go for the 1.8 t if you only plan on using for travelling to work or weekend driving.

Both can be re-mapped giving you more power and acceleration if you wish.

You should get about 30-35 mpg out of the 1.8 if not driven hard.
