Default 01 tt cold start noise

I found treads with people experiencing the same prob. as i am. but none of them had any responses. I just bought my audi and i came from owning 3 other turbo mitsu eclipses. I have extensive turbo knowlege with those cars but not this audi. I was wondering why the engine sounds as if the wastegate is open during cold starts and the rpm stays about 1300 .. then it sounds as if a valve is closing and the noise goes away and the engine runs fine. an answer would be greatly appreciated and im sorry if this is a common subject i tryed to search for it. i just dont want any probs out of my new car so soon.

Default Noises

This noise, is it a whinning noise? I have the same problem as well when i start my car up if my heater is on. If i have that off and start the car it doesnt make that noise.... So now I just leave the heater off when I start the car.

no its not a whining noise... it sould like air escaping from a vacuum hose but stops within a min of starting the car... you can actually here some sort of valve turn it off. car runs perfect after that.. i might take it to a mechanic for inspection if i cant find out why it does it.

Default Secondary Air Pump

It is the secondary air pump which turns on for about 30 seconds on cold mornings. It is an electric pump that gives the engine more air to lean out the exhaust until it is up to normal temperature. You can either deal with the sound, or pay around 200$ for a new one.

No problem. Most people just live with the noise, but I have heard a few people took theirs out and lubed up the bearings in the pump which are making the noise. While this can fix the it, the noise is really just a minor annoyance and theres nothing actually wrong with the car.
