roadster wind deflector (mechanical)

Hello. I have conducted a thorough search. I have been checking out the forum for about a week and purchased a 01 tt quattro with 64k on this weekend. I like it a lot...

My gripe is the wind deflector, it was disconnected, and now i know why. when it goes down only 1 side goes down, rarely both. then it only comes up about 1/32 inches each tap of the switch. i removed the rear cover and there seems to be a toothed belt that is falling apart. Is this part of the system that moves the glass, or is it a seal that has rotted and fallen. known issue? where can i get a new belt? audii i assume...
