Default TT Heated Seats switch

Hi, I've got a 2000 Audi tt. The heated seat knob broke, so i bought a new one. However, I'm not sure how to take the stereo out to replace the knob, that is, if i need to remove the stereo to get to the knob. Or if i need to take the dashboard apart. If anyone has replaced the Hazard switch, its the same operation. Advice is greatly appreciated. What is the best way to get the stereo out?
thanks
