help wif ma TT

hopefully someone can shed some light on this,i have just bought a 99 225 tt for ma wife,thing is we can hear like a humming sound coming form i think the passenger side footwell,when the engine is running,still hear it even if the car is moving or not,it sounds like a pump of some kind????,do these have electric waterpumps or any other suggestions?car runs perfect otherwise,just annoying hearing it all the time,cheers in advance
