Klost...mine is At 90k And The Previous Owners Did Not Do Any Major Service On It And Now I get The Tail End Of It. Just The Timing Belt/water Pump/etc Alone Is $1600 From An Audi Dealer. I Just Called 2 Audi Dealers Ans The Price Varied Only Ny $200 Different. It Sucks. I Am Trying To Find An Independant Audi Mechanic Which Will Be Cheaper. Good Luck Bro. Sucks To Be Us.

I find it astonishing that at this late stage of automotive technology, there are still auto makers using a timing belt rather than a timing chain.
I have a Nissan Maxima with over 170k miles on it, engine going extremely strong, and no worries about ever having to replace a timing belt. Other than cost savings, is there some plausible reason for using a timing belt instead of a timing chain? |
