I have a new 3.2 TT (2006).

The brakes squeal at low speeds (reversing out of the driveway etc). The dealer says everything is fine and up to spec but I can't stand the sound. I also don't believe the excuse of mild corrosion as I drive the car 40 to 80 kms each day. Can it really be corroding over night?

Any thoughts out there?

Even if it was corrosion, that would be wiped clean after the first couple of times you applied the brakes. If the noise is persistent at low speeds, I think AllWheel has it right. It's probably your brakepads.

Cheers.

The car is stock. They say everything is to spec. I had them check it again.

My A4 never had this issue, but my brother has a brand new A4 and he claims to have it a bit. Not as much as I have. It is not persistent, but it happens almost everyday. It never happens at high speed, only low speeds. It really is just annoying.

I don't buy the corrosion story either. Like I said I drive the car 4o to 80 KMS a day (5 days a week). Perhaps Canadian cars have different pads spec'd?
