hi guys, I wanted to find out if anyone on here has done an aftermarket alarm on their audi. I just got the car about 3 months ago and i figured i wanted a little more protection since i am installing a high end alpine system in it. I installed the alpine SEC-8063 alarm, which although a pain to install is one of the best alarms i have ever worked with. this thing has a ton of features and having an acctual controller that displays the information on the screen takes the guess work out of programming. I did just about everything i could with it aside from engine start, and although i know that its not a problem to do i wanted to see if anyone has done it and if they had any problems with the starting of the car. any info helps out. also this alarm has a turbo timer feature which you can run after a hard drive. that was the main reason for installing the system. So far with this alarm i can control the door locks, open the trunk, open the gas lid, roll up the windows, and down if wanted, turbo timer, has a dual stage shock sensor and dual stage proximity. again if you guys have any info or tips on the remote start and possible problems, do let me know. and btw i own my own car stereo shop so i've been around a lot of vehicles and products. If anyone is interested in this alarm (which has been discontinued) let me know I can still get a couple from a friends shop. they sold for $600 but now its up in the air. any offers will be considered.

This reply will probably get moved but you are close by -

Not interested in the alarm at this time but since you own the shop, are you interested in hardwiring a radar detector unit or other items in my A6?

Let me know via a post in the Off Topic Lounge.

Glad to see a few people from the Left Coast and SFO Bay on the forums.

Thanks,

CA2.7TS

Will let this one slide, since I been dying to use this smilie!

Andrei,

Sounds like that is quite an awesome alarm system and more than just a security feature. Car theft out here in Bahrain is pretty much non-existant but back in South Africa, a system like yours would probably be very welome, although certainly not inexpensive. I have been pretty happy with the basic factory fitted system
