just a heads up i drive a 225 tt roadster was driving "agressively" one night the next day my temp guage went all the way hot and my warning light came on after bringing it to my machanic i found out the water pump impeller is a carbon/graphite material and it literally blew apart granted it was at high rpm and speed but still it was a 800$ lesson learned my mechanic found me a metal one to solve that problem (cuz well the lead foot isnt getting any lighter lol) and its still stock cant wait till its chipped and cat backed

I had my whole water pump replaced. I cant say exactly what the problem was but aparently it was leaking. I would be very surprised if there is anything wrong with using composite materials and I dont believe that your high rpm's caused the problem, more likely an inherent defect that finally caught up with itself.

Just thinking about it, seems to me that a composite impellor should last better as it is not prone to corrosion that a metal one would be.

I have heard other TT owners have had this problem with the water pump impeller and they have replaced it with a metal impeller.

Also, a lot of these people found the problem after they destroyed their 1.8t engine when the timing belt gave out. In the USA, the scheduled replacement of the timing belt is 105,000 miles. It apppears these wear out/ break before that. When the belt goes, the valve train is destroyed.

They recommend replacing the timing belt at 60,000 miles. The 3.2 engine has a timing chain instaed of a belt.

Better safe than sorry!

exelent idea im going to have mt belt replaced asap im at 72,000 miles i just cant stop driving this car
