problem with my alarm on my 2001 Audi

I have a problem with my alarm on my 2001 Audi TT Roadster.The remote is working fine (in that it still has the flashing red light when I press it) however pressing it no longer deactivates the alarm. As you probably know, the key does not decativate it either. Is there any other way of deactivating the alarm?
