I've had my car for 6 weeks - I switched from an e36 M3 and chose my S4 over a bump up to the e46 M3. The car is definitely the nicest car I've owned - the creature comforts and tech are off the charts. I would have to say that beyond the performance/handling and overall fit and finish the only Achilles heel that this car has is the MPG - in the climate that we're in, with gas prices, it's definitely a BIG con. I'm lucky that we don't have children and make good money because I would definitely feel the pinch otherwise. I am currently getting 16mpg in the city and on a trip to SF (in sixth gear for the most part) I was able to eek out a mere 20MPG. By contrast my M3 netted me 21 in the city and I would see upwards of 31 on the highway if I drove it responsibly. I'm finding that I'm filling up once a week with my driving habits, so the bottom line is that its costing me $460 a month in gas...
If you can afford it - I would recommend it but it's definitely something to think about.
