give continental contisportcontact3 a thought too. had an S3 MkI and now drive an S3 MKII and have gone through various tyre changes. Starting with the original Bridgestone Potenza RE040, moved on to Michelin Sport SP2 then onto some contisportcontact3 and last but not least onto Pirellis PZero Rosso! All seemed fine, with the exception of the Michelins which inspite of their advertised "long life maximum results" thing they sucked second year round. The most resistant to fade and impressive even at high speed slaloms were the Pirellis! Even under hard rain they sticked on the tarmac! The contisportcontacts were soft, progressive and quiet on the other hand. My new car has contis on but the Mk2 version of the above mentioned tyre... too soft and lots of grip in the wet but fair traction in the dry.
there you go. another glimpse in the tyre world. hope I have helped.
