its not due to the coolant..
The more than likley reason will be the temp collant sensor.. it common part costing about £20.00
The below fault will be recorded in VAG-COM.
17698 - - Coolant Temp Sensor at Radiator Outlet (GB3) Singal too Small.
P1290 - 002 - Lower limit Exceeded
