Upon search inquiry here and at another Audi forum, again I was surprised at similar responses to oil consumption. Not only the earlier 2.8 engine, but also the later 2.8 and a few 1.7t owners also reported high oil consumption. An Audi tech posted a response saying that Audi expects 1 ltr. oil consumption for every 1000k
Can this be normal, and if so why? And, will catylitic converters have less life span as a result of the high oil consuption?

I have an Audi A4 2.0 L (2002 Reg) which has done now over 70K miles and I have the same observations. It sucks in 1 Ltr of Oil for every 1000 Km which is unheard of in a Ford or BMW cars.
Looks like it is normal!! I am yet to hear a justification or solution for this problem.
