I can't comment on the 2 ltr engine but you would expect that the engine would have to work harder than the 3 ltr version.
I have the answer for the Parking brake not releasing. I had mine booked in for the same fault and it is actually driver error. If you don't use the gas pedal ( like when setting of on a flat or slightly down hill road) the bugger will not release itself.
Since it has been in and had a chat with the service manager, I am always using even the slightest amount of gas before releasing the clutch and it has always worked properly.
The oil consumption should improve with mileage. If you look in the handbook, you will notice that it is probably within the manufacturer's tolerances.
