Default SatNav CD v Dvd and TV Reception

I'm thinking of upgrading my Bose Symphony to the OEM SatNav. If it's still even available, would there be a huge difference between the DVD and CD system? I take it that the CD system is certainly going to be more affordable (or I can even get it 2nd hand). Can I get TV on the CD version? Regardless of CD or DVD, for those of you with the TV tuner, what is the reception like around London when on the move? I'm thinking of getting a tuner with my CD/DVD screen mostly for the 'traffic jams' heading into the city in the morn - which is why I'm not so concerned with getting the latest DVD sat-nav (I don't really need the sat nav function as much as I want to have a TV).

Any comments much appreciated.
