I would go for a rebuild on your own engine assuming you think that your engine was in good condition before the failure. I would also try to get some money from Audi because the failure occurred before the timing belt change interval. The tensioner and bolt is replaced at the same time. Did the tensioner fail or was it the bolt that holds the tensioner. My bolt failled at 102K miles, but I was lucky that no damage was done to valves or pistons. I also think that $4K is a good price. I paid £1K or $2K wiyhout any valves being replaced.
