Hi,

My 2002 Audi A6 3.0 Quattro just stalled at a traffic light due to broken timing belt/tensioner. The odometer is 66k and there was no flashing light or other warning before total engine failure.

I have 3 quotes (parts + labor) from independent repair shops:
$4k to repair valves/pistons and replace other parts
$7K to put in a used (50k 2004 A4) engine
$12k to replace with rebuilt engine (What is that?)

Any advice & suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

This is my 1st Audi. I've owned VW, Subarus, Volvos and never seen anything like this before.
