Hello Mate,

A DV and BOV or similar but do different things. You can only have one so to speak. The DV's are processing valves designed to direct flow from an inlet to one of two or more outlets. They can also be used for flow control and to converge two lines into one. Pretty much releases the back pressure off the turbo back into the intake. a BOV (Blow off Valve) Holds the back pressure tell you let off the throttle and releases it into the atmosphere instead of the intake.

When it goes into the atmosphere that is when you get the nice whossssh sound. Stock Audi's normally run a DV, if you are running an aftermarket turbo running a higher boost its recommended to change the DV to a stronger DV to hold the boost or a BOV to prevent to much pressure then blowing your turbo.

Hope this helps your thoughts!

Cheers,

Adam~
