Thanks for the reply, I actually think I have fixed it. I pulled the head unit out and noticed there was some extra wiring, from an old hands free kit that was in the car when I bought it, I think. I removed this wiring and have not had a reoccurance of the problem, well not for the last 3 days since doing the work anyway.keeping my fingers crossed.
