Hi Guys. I'm new to the forum but have found some interesting things. I have a 99 A6 which i love and recently had the same problem. Unfortunately my problem lay with the air regulator, which had to be replaced, at a bit of a cost, but could be done as DIY with a bit of patience! I also changed all air filters as a precaution.
