Default 99 avant 2.8 overheating since timing service

For the last week or so since I have had my timing belt serviced the car is running hotter and while stoppped idling gets close to overheating (1 mark from the "H") also A/C is poor as a result. I had a local shop that "claimed" to be Audi experienced (I even got a good impression from the mechanic who worlked on it). They also did the aux. drive belt, water pump, thermostat (90 C), and changed coolant with the B12 pink stuff. I believe I had an orange coolant in there prior from my last service at Audi (35K ago). The car has 80K on it now. Anyone have any ideas: possible mix of AF, air entrapment in coolant, a bad sensor or switch? Any clues or direction would be great. Trying to avoid going to Audi delaership but feel I may be best served there.
