Question Overheating problem. 2002 A4 tdi130.

Hi folks, having problems with my climate control and coolant system. A couple of times recently I have had a cooling water low level alarm on my dash. I have not found any leaks and have topped up the header tank. No more problems for 6 weeks or so, then recently my temp guage went sky high and the alarm occurred again. There appeared to be adequate water in the header tank. I stopped the car for a couple of minutes and the engine cooled down.

I took it to a local mechanic ( am fed up with prices charged by audi dealers). He changed the thermostat but I am still witnessing the same problem. It happens mainly when I am giving the engine a bit of stick, overtaking etc. It also occurs when I turn the climate control up to maximum temp, I also appear to be getting no hot air into the car. My mechanic says it may be the cimate control unit as their is no hot water flowing around the heating circuit part of the cooling system. I am loathed to take it to an Audi main dealer and be charged a fortune.

Has anybody out there got any ideas? Please help.

Cheers, Steve
