your on the right track,but on my 98 a4 there are two tabs on the backside of the light that clip the turn signal to the headlight.they upclip and swing out of the way and the corner signal will come out easily.then you will see the third bolt that has to be removed.at this point you can wiggle out the light.BE CAREFUL NOT TO BREAK THE CLIPS! It took me about an hour to figure out the first headlight,and about 5 mins to remove the second one. Good luck.
