I have had exactly the same problem - and fixed it.
There are a couple of things to check first though. Make sure that your drainage holes are clear - under the battery and at the sides below the wind screen. If these are OK check that the trim which fits on at the bottom of the wind screen is flush / tight fitting with the windscreen. Mine wasn't and water was rolling under into the pollen filter and down into the passenger foot well. I replaced the housing for the pollen filter and the trim that fits at the bottom of the window and all is well. Apparently it's a common fault that the trims need replacing.

I now have a squeak from the around steering colum - like something is rubbing - when I turn right. So if anyone can help me out with this I'd be pleased......
