I have a 2000 1.8T with less than 35k on the odometer and i just put in a drop-in K & N air filter.
I friend of mine told me that it might not be a good idea. He has heard of the oil that is on the filter building up on the map sensor which eventually leads to a $700 replacement job.
Has anybody heard of this actually happening? Could this actually be a problem?
